Join the Fulfill.com network →The Port of Vancouver is Canada's busiest, handling roughly 3.47 million TEUs in 2024. It's the default for goods coming from Asia. The Port of Montreal is second at about 1.75 million TEUs and the main entry point for European imports through the St. Lawrence Seaway. Prince Rupert, also in BC, offers the shortest transpacific route in North America and is expanding fast. Halifax rounds out the top four on the Atlantic side and reaches Europe about two days faster than other East Coast ports. Which port your 3PL uses comes down to where your products are manufactured and where your customers are concentrated.
Yes. Most established Canadian 3PLs have licensed customs brokers on staff or work with partners who do. The process runs through CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency) on the Canadian side and US Customs on the American side. One major change to know about: in August 2025, the US suspended the Section 321 de minimis exemption for commercial shipments. The old $800 duty-free threshold no longer applies. CUSMA-compliant goods shipped through commercial carriers like UPS, FedEx, or DHL can still enter the US duty-free, but anything sent through USPS or Canada Post gets hit with duties no matter what. Many Canadian 3PLs work around this by consolidating orders into bulk shipments, clearing customs once, and injecting individual packages into the US domestic carrier network afterward.
The Greater Toronto Area has the highest concentration of 3PL facilities in Canada. Toronto, Brampton, and Mississauga handle the bulk of it. Vancouver is the West Coast hub, anchored by port access for Asia-Pacific imports. Montreal covers Eastern Canada and European trade via the St. Lawrence. Calgary serves distribution across the Prairies. These four metros sit within reach of roughly 60% of Canadian ecommerce shoppers. Outside of them, coverage drops off fast. If your customer base is spread across the country, a multi-warehouse setup with at least one location in the East and one out West cuts transit times significantly. Brands selling only into one region are better off picking a single 3PL close to that hub.
Every provider on this list operates at least one physical warehouse in Canada and actively fulfills ecommerce or retail orders with a verifiable client base. We filtered out freight brokers, 4PLs, and any company that doesn't run its own Canadian fulfillment operations.
We evaluated each 3PL across six areas: Canadian warehouse footprint, service specializations, technology and integration support, client reviews and marketplace performance, pricing structure, and years of operational experience. Our scoring draws from Fulfill.com's internal marketplace data, documentation submitted by the providers, publicly available reviews, technology partner confirmations, and relevant industry certifications.
