Spear Head Spade Found a 3PL That Fits Five-Foot Garden Tools
A New Jersey family business that shipped its own orders compared the proposals Fulfill's search brought in and chose FIDELITONE's Tennessee fulfillment center for its five-foot garden tools.

“I agree with Harry’s plan...best fit all around, once we get confirmation the cost to warehouse our 59 and 60″ shovels and hoes isn’t a deal breaker.”
Spear Head Spade is Glorious Outdoors, LLC, a family business for about fifteen years, run today from New Jersey, owned and operated by Hugh Mura, President, and his brother-in-law Harry Freeman, co-founder and CFO. Its spades and hoes are built around the pointed blade Daniel Mathieu invented in his Connecticut garden, and they sell through the brand's own store, Amazon, and garden retailers and catalogs.
FIDELITONE, the 3PL the owners chose, was founded in 1929, is privately held and family owned, and is based in Wauconda, Illinois. The owners chose its Elizabethton, Tennessee fulfillment center.
The family's own New Jersey operation packed every website and drop-ship order
Spear Head Spade sells a short list of long products. The brand's store lists a 40-inch D-handle spade, a 58-inch long-handle spade, a 30-inch mini spade, a 60-inch garden hoe, a kneeler and two gift sets. The brief to Fulfill counted seven SKUs, with product weights from 1 pound to 70 pounds.
Demand moves in two ways. The peak runs from January through May, and the brand's work with social media influencers now adds peaks that follow their videos. The brand sells on its own store, sends stock into Amazon FBA, and drop-ships orders for catalog and marketplace partners, so the family was running three channels.
When the brief went in, every website and drop-ship order shipped from the family's own operations center in New Jersey, with labels printed through ShipEngine from QuickBooks.
The brand's own site told customers as much: “Hand-packed in NJ”.
With two containers of new stock due at the end of July, the owners wanted a 3PL that could rack a five-foot tool at a storage cost that was not a deal breaker, keep Amazon stocked, take the drop-ship orders, and sit on the East Coast or in the mid-states if the costs worked out. Hugh Mura submitted the brief on July 1, 2026.
“Currently use ShipEngine thru Quickbooks to print labels. All website and drop ship orders are fulfilled thru our NJ Operations Center”. Hugh Mura, President, on the brief
Four 3PLs accepted the brief, and the owners compared the proposals line by line
The brief reached nearly 20 3PLs in Fulfill's network on July 1, and on July 7 the four 3PLs that accepted were introduced. Greg Airel, Fulfill's VP of Sales & Business Development, worked the match with Joe Spisak, Fulfill's CEO.
Joe had been advising the owners on a move to a new ecommerce platform since before the brief went in. On a July 6 call he went back through the volumes and storage costs with both owners. With the real pallet count, the storage math worked, and they went ahead with the search.
Joe also migrated the brand's online store from its legacy GoDaddy site to Shopify. The owners wanted the new store launched before they made their final 3PL decision, and it went live on July 17.
FIDELITONE's written proposal arrived on July 15. Harry Freeman, the brand's co-founder and CFO, built his own cost comparison across the proposals, took follow-up questions back to FIDELITONE, and updated the numbers. FIDELITONE had quoted two of its sites, New Jersey and Tennessee; storage costs ruled out New Jersey. Greg reviewed the comparison too and reached the same conclusion on New Jersey.
On July 20 the owners made their pick. “Their TN warehouse seems like the winner,” Harry wrote. Hugh agreed, “best fit all around,” once the cost of racking the five-foot shovels and hoes checked out, which it did that day. Greg's read matched: “I think Fidelitone is the overall right pick,” he wrote the owners the same afternoon.
Harry's comparison in July put a competing proposal about 24% higher on monthly costs, with shipping roughly double.
FIDELITONE had quoted an onboarding window of 60 to 90 days. “I got them down to 30,” Harry wrote. Greg asked FIDELITONE's team about the window too, and the next day passed on their answer: they “told me they are going to find a way to expedite onboarding for you.”
From there the owners set the pace. They routed two inbound containers to their own warehouse first, so back orders and Amazon restocks could ship from Connecticut and New Jersey while FIDELITONE prepared. Harry also read the master services agreement closely and asked FIDELITONE to revise its liability term. Greg explained to the owners how liability limits usually work in 3PL contracts and backed the request: “it never hurts to ask for different terms!” A revised agreement came back on July 22.

“We looked at costs for both TN and NJ. It makes more sense for us to go with TN only. NJ storage costs pretty much ruled out that location.” Hugh Mura, President, July 16, 2026
Onboarding with FIDELITONE's Tennessee fulfillment center began in September 2026
On September 15, 2026, Hugh confirmed it: “Yes, we've started the Onboarding process with Fidelitone.” The Elizabethton, Tennessee site is 186,000 square feet on FIDELITONE's Fulfill.com profile, and FIDELITONE lists Shopify among its integrations and direct-to-consumer, Amazon FBA and retail fulfillment among its services, the three channels on the brand's brief.
Fulfillment is moving to Tennessee in stages. Onboarding began in mid-September 2026, and the owners kept shipping from their own stock while the transition was under way in October. Joe is still working with the owners on the move. On an October call they agreed to set up the store's products the way FIDELITONE wants and to keep its inventory exact, since FIDELITONE's system connects to Shopify.
What the search produced: nearly 20 3PLs saw the brief, four accepted, the owners compared written proposals on their own terms, Harry asked for and got a revised contract term, and the brand chose a 3PL whose Tennessee site, Shopify integration and FBA and retail programs fit the business.
“I learned a long time ago that if you do not ask the question, the answer is no”. Harry Freeman, co-founder and CFO, on the contract term FIDELITONE revised
The owners did the deciding, with real volumes, their own spreadsheet and their own questions. Joe and Greg were with them throughout. Joe went through the numbers with Hugh and Harry and moved the store to Shopify. Greg reviewed the comparison and backed Harry's contract request, and Joe is still helping as fulfillment moves to Tennessee. The match itself began when Fulfill put the brief in front of nearly 20 3PLs and introduced the four that accepted. Brands with a similar start can submit a brief.
